VIDEO. In Calais, this retiree spends her days recharging refugees’ laptops

As she says herself, at 65, Brigitte Lips could spend her afternoons watching movies on TV comfortably seated on her sofa. Instead, she spends her days recharging the cell phones of refugees ringing at her door. Does she suffer from it? No. Her happiness is to be of service to others. Explanations.

Brigitte Lips, retired for three years, lives in Calais, a city very popular with refugees wishing to reach Great Britain. And she knows it, these migrants need to be helped. So she invites them into her yard and opens the door of her garage to them. Inside, a mess of cables and sockets whose only task is to charge hundreds of cell phones.

She’s been doing this for 14 years. An activity which does not delight the whole neighborhood (far from it) but which suits Brigitte very well. In return, she receives smiles, thanks and a lot of recognition. And that is priceless.

Konbini went to meet him. Look :

Brigitte Lips, at the microphone of Konbini :

“I hope that doing what I’m doing can inspire a few people to do a little bit. It is giving without asking in return. The return is the smile they will give me. The return is to be able to give happiness to others, to be able to share something. “

“Otherwise I can sit on the couch and watch the afternoon movie. “

An exemplary dedication.
