makes 50 million extra available for sports facilities (Brussels)

Brussels –

The Brussels government has released 50 million euros over four years for the municipalities to finance projects related to municipal sports accommodation. This is reported by Minister of Local Governments Bernard Clerfayt.

The Brussels Region has almost 1,000 sports facilities. Enough to satisfy many Brussels residents, but not all. That is why the region has decided to provide financial support to the 19 municipalities in order to increase the range of sports facilities on the region’s territory. After announcing the creation of the renovation of 24 local sports infrastructures (playgrounds, street training, etc.), the Region is now making a further EUR 50 million available over four years to finance projects related to municipal sports facilities.

“During this period, there will be room for Brussels residents with a shortage of sports clubs. With this 50 euros I want to strengthen the sports policy in the Brussels Region and increase the number of sports accommodations, because we all want a city where sporting, cultural and sporting activities are combined”, concludes Bernard Clerfayt.

Municipalities have until March 31, 2022 to submit projects relating to municipal sports infrastructure.
