OSLA intervenes on the visit of the International Monetary Fund to San Marino.
A view that the San Marino Entrepreneurs Organization considers important for various reasons. “In the first place, technicians are required to underestimate the measures adopted by San Marino to support its economy after the blow inflicted by the pandemic. A support that OSLA has always claimed to have been insufficient, especially for economic sectors linked to the tourism.
Unfortunately, the crisis in our economic system goes beyond Covid. We need to redesign a development model that guarantees revenue for the state without increasing the tax burden. The reforms to be made are now known and – in common words – by everyone. Even the latest reports from the IMF underline the need for urgent action, especially on the banking and pension systems.
With regard to the banking system, as an association that brings together numerous small and medium-sized enterprises in all sectors, we continue to register critical issues on the part of our associates, the difficulty of accessing credit. Alongside that of Npls, which the Great and General Council has recently legislated for, this is another primary issue to be addressed in order to ensure the development of the economy.
In the same way, to intervene to increase the flexibility of the labor market, which today penalizes companies in San Marino by not allowing them to face difficult moments of great instability in the best possible way. Our Association has always supported the need to simplify and speed up hiring procedures, leaving the entrepreneur free to choose his collaborators based on merit and skills.
But the IMF’s judgment this year is particularly important in light of the arrival on the international markets of San Marino public debt securities. The report, in fact, is a fundamental tool for investors that the Titan will need again, given that it will be impossible to restore the 340 million of public debt issued in the spring.
And this must be a huge boost to restart the country’s economy and to finally heal public finances “.
