ALL ANTWERP. “We are not allowed to take pictures of houses of private limited companies… (Antwerp)
Every weekday our reporter and photographer pick a casual passer-by off the street for a nice conversation. Want everyone has a story. And certainly in Antwerp. Today: Ronald Aerts (41).
“We drove to the Netherlands every day for six months to work in the house of a very well-known Dutchman. There were occasional paparazzi at the door and we were not allowed to share pictures of plans of the house. We did a total renovation in that person’s house. I don’t think we can say who that is. It is the same story with well-known Flemish people. They also always ask us not to share pictures of plans. So we will work extra discreetly.”
“We are currently working on a house in the Cogels-Osylei. I didn’t know that street, but apparently it’s one of the successful practices in Antwerp. There are a lot of tourists who come to see the houses here. Nice that we can just do a renovation project here. It’s simple, but a lot of authenticity has to be preserved, but that doesn’t keep it interesting.”
“I started three years ago when my self-employed person had worked somewhere against his will for a year. Now I can truly say that my job is my hobby and I enjoy doing it every day. Even though I easily work eighty hours a week. After working hours, the accounting is still waiting for me. Surely that’s the life of a self-employed person?”
