With 3G to the Christmas market and après-ski – politics and institutions
In cable cars, the 3G rule (vaccinated, recovered, tested) and an FFP2 mask requirement should apply to everyone at all levels. For restaurants and hotels, 3G proof will also be required; from level 3 onwards, only one PCR test counts for testing. This was announced by Austria’s Minister of Tourism, Elisabeth Köstinger, today.
The rules for après ski should be based on the rules for night gastronomy. The government wants to orient itself on the general corona restrictions, which depend on the utilization of the intensive care beds. There is a 3-step plan for this.
The 3G rule will also apply to the Christmas markets.
There should be no queues in front of the gondolas and cable cars today, especially since no capacity restrictions are planned. There will also be no distance rules as in the previous year.
And South Tyrol?
In South Tyrol there have recently been more voices calling for a clear and, above all, early regulation for the winter season. Above all, the organizers of the Christmas markets and tourism professionals are calling for a quick regulation.
The Südtiroler Landes had recently emphasized several times that it no longer wanted to go it alone and that it would wait for government guidelines from Rome.
At the moment it is only clear that the lifts should remain open in the winter season. Like public transport, they should also be able to be used to 80 percent capacity.
The responsible commission in the Chamber of Deputies has already approved this proposal. Now when, however, the Chamber and Senate approve the proposal.
It is still unclear whether 3G rules or an FFP-2 mask requirement will also apply to aprè-ski and Christmas markets in South Tyrol. But the Austrian Minister of Tourism Elisabeth Köstinger declared at today’s conference in Vienna that Bavaria and South Tyrol are considering the same measures for the winter season as Austria.
