Austria’s 3 × 3 basketball players are world class! They did the same at the last tournament of the season once again proven.

With fifth place at the final of the World Tour in Bucharest, the women’s national team moved up to fifth place in the overall standings – and thus just before the USA die! Meanwhile, the U17 girls did not make it out of the group at the European Championships in Lisbon, but gained important experience at the highest level against extremely strong opponents.

The 3 × 3 women have successfully completed the season. After two narrow defeats against Holland and Poland on Saturday, Camilla Neumann, Annika Neumann, Simone Sill and Michaela Wildbacher against Mongolia and won 18:11. This success is no longer enough for the semi-finals, but the strong points ratio brought the strong fifth place. “We are of course happy about him. Mainly because we have never played together in this constellation, ”says Sill after the tournament in the magnificent Romanian parliament.

Camilla Neumann also sums up positively after the tournament and the whole season. “After it was just not enough for the surprise on the first day, we showed again on Sunday against Mongolia how much has gone on this season.” Bucharest couldn’t be there. Of course, the team thought of one thing in particular: “We’re sending a lot of energy to Florida and we wish you a speedy recovery!”

U17 national team gathers important experience at EM
For Austria’s U17 girls Melanie Fischer, Cora Horvath, Ajla Meskic and Franca Rödhammer, the first 3 × 3 summer came to an end on the weekend. It’s not enough for a win at the European Championships in Lisbon, but the experience they gained in the defeats against the physical and clearly superior teams from Russia and Ukraine is worth gold for further development.

This is also confirmed by team boss Diana Picorusevic, who speaks of the expected difficult task against the two opposing teams. “The girls set themselves high goals and accordingly went into both games with the right mindset. Unfortunately, the size difference in particular was an obstacle ”, analyzes Picorusevic, who, however, saw“ an instructive experience for the entire team ”. “The feeling and the experience of being part of the EM is very nice.”

3 × 3 Team Graz fails in Prague qualification
For the men from the 3 × 3 Team Graz, however, it wasn’t really successful. In the qualifying draw of the World Tour Masters in Prague (CZE) they failed in the decisive game for entry into the main competition. For a long time it looked as if Moritz Lanegger, Filip Krämer, Matthias Linortner and Martin Trmal would live up to their favorite role against the Serbian team Ralja. In the end, however, it was a 17:19 defeat in overtime.

For Linortner there was at least one more personal sense of achievement later on: The Upper Austrian won the shoot-out contest and thus $ 500.
