The cases today in Athena record a significant reduction in the number of new infections, while according to experts it is due to two reasons.
A small number of diagnostic tests are performed at the weekend, while now the focus of the pandemic seems to have been transferred from Athens, as the corresponding increase was not observed, which is recorded in the territory.
So today, Monday 20 September, EODY announced 2,126 new cases, 39 deaths from coronavirus and 342 intubated in hospitals.
Of the 2,126 new infections, 243 located in Athena and are distributed as follows:
–Central sector: 104 cases
–West sector: 62 cases
–North sector: 40 cases
–Southern sector: 37 cases

Following is the announcement of EODY for today 20/9:
“The new laboratory confirmed cases of the disease recorded in the last 24 hours are 2,126, of which 11 were identified after a check at the country’s gates. The total number of cases is 632,908 (daily change + 0.3%), of which 51.0% are men. Based on the confirmed cases of the last 7 days, 138 are considered to be related to travel from abroad and 2,866 are related to an already known case.
The new deaths of patients with COVID-19 are 39, while since the first epidemic a total of 14,505 deaths have been recorded. 95.4% had underlying disease and / or age 70 years and older.
The number of patients treated by intubation is 342 (62.3% men). Their median age is 65 years. 79.8% have an underlying disease and / or age 70 years and older. Among intubated patients, 313 (91.52%) are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and 29 (8.48%) are fully vaccinated. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 3,092 people have left the ICU.
The admission of new Covid-19 patients to the hospitals of the territory is 128 (daily change -33.33%). The average seven-day admission is 191 patients. The median age of cases was 39 years (range 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of death was 78 years (range 0.2 to 106 years).
