The Crown Princess family in Sweden and the Crown Prince family in Norway joined last weekend in Gotland, Sweden.
Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway and their older children, Princess Ingrid Alexandra, traveled to Gotland in Sweden to spend time with Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and her husband, Prince Daniel and their two children, Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar.
Both royal houses released a photo from the weekend where the Royal Court said: “The Crown Princess family appreciated being able to spend time with their Norwegian friends and relatives, and to have the opportunity to show them this unique part of Sweden. ”
The Norwegian Royal Court said: “The Crown Prince Couple and Princess Ingrid Alexandra spent some beautiful late summer days on Gotland in the Baltic Sea last weekend with the Swedish Crown Princess family …[they] appreciated the visit to Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel. ”
The families are known to have a close friendship and are close relatives. Crown Prince Haakon ‘of Norway’s grandmother was a princess of Sweden; both he and Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden are descended from King Oscar II of Sweden and Norway who ruled from 1872 to 1905 (Norway) and 1907 (Sweden).
Crown Princess Victoria is known for being close friends with Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit. She is the godmother of Princess Ingrid Alexandra and chose Haakon and Mette-Marit to be sponsors of Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar respectively.
Ingrid Alexandra also served as the bridesmaid at Victoria and Daniel’s Stockholm Wedding 2010.
