visit the new Mas de Carles goat farm
The renovation of the old building of the goat farm, dating back 30 years, was becoming essential. The construction of the large hangar of approximately 600 m² has been completed. There remains the finishes (water, electricity) of the 150 m² dedicated to the cheese factory and for the milking docks. “Work began at the start of the year. Delivery will be on time, ”explains Patrick Boulai, deputy director of Mas de Carles. “The cheese factory should be operational in November. “
The new building will be able to accommodate a greater number of goats with their young: “Currently, there are more than sixty. The new cheese dairy will be more spacious, with a space dedicated to order preparation. This building was designed on the models of today’s goat farms, making it possible to greatly improve the working conditions of this activity, ”explains Patrick Boulai. “Production will increase, already 35,000 pélardons per year, and we would like to offer other products such as yoghurts and goat’s cheese. “
