The mayor of Prague, Zdeněk Hřib (Pirates), thinks that there are “no problems” with drugs in the metropolis. In reality, however, under the cover of darkness in Prague, it is not difficult to find anything from “ordinary grass”, through xanax, ecstasy to a few grams of crystalline compounds that pretend to be cocaine. “It simply came to our notice then. You have arrived in the city of sins, “one of the many drug dealers welcomes tourists in our metropolis, and the toilets in the middle of the historic center start to feel like a stock market after dark. Investigative journalists Patrik Fiala and Martin Klesnil from the VIZE Project map out how the situation in the Prague drug underworld has changed compared to a few years ago.

The mayor of Prague, Zdeněk Hřib, claims that the situation around drugs in Prague is “OK” and “he does not know about any problems”. However, it turns out that the reality is not as rosy as people in the municipality think if they should think.
Both journalists addressed the issue of drugs in the streets of the capital already during the administration of the previous leadership of Prague, headed by Mayor Adriana Krnáčová, but it is clear from the footage that the situation has not changed even years after the coalition of Pirates, United Forces for Prague and Prague itself. It has long been the case that it is a matter of neglecting things by the police, police officers, even according to journalists, are trying to do what they can, and in recent years the police have set up a special Krystal team to search for people selling drugs.
The unresolved problem in the streets of night Prague is evidenced, for example, by their video mapping the so-called “chases”, whose task is to officially get tourists to go to Prague’s clubs and cabaret. Unofficially, they often dispose of drugs, the sale of which is their secondary service.
Klesnil and Fiala show in the shots when one of the chasers attacks them, his colleague used his dark skin and started accusing them of racism during the hidden mapping of the situation quickly.
“You’re doing a black job. You’re a racist! “He started chasing journalists and started yelling at them to tell him who was sent.
“This is not about racism. This is not about blacks. No. This is about crime, “says Fiala, the men who, after seeing the camera, began to pretend that they were racists because of the” shooting of black people. “
According to investigative journalists, what has changed is that the hunters have changed their habitats and now, in addition to Wenceslas Square, Jungmann Square and Charles Square, you can meet them after sunset on the touristy Royal Road leading to Charles Bridge in the street from the town hall or next to Karlovy Vary.

According to the journalist, despite frequent police actions, the number of chases has not changed in recent years, and those who disappear from the street will be replaced in a short time by new ones. In addition, due to their previous program “Blackness”, both journalists have long been profaned, and shortly after they appear on Wenceslas Square, the two chasers present both start taking photos and forwarding information about their movements to a group of black people in Prague – “Black People in Prague” – on a social network. According to Klesnil, however, they are not only blacks, but also Czechs, Poles, Albanians and Roma.
Czech dealers also arouse vigilance among drug dealers. Logging in with Czech customers is much more vigilant and nervous.
On the contrary, they approach tourists differently. In addition, they themselves are much more relaxed when handing over light drugs, because they often think that it is legal to buy marijuana in Prague, which was the case with filmed tourists from India, who report that they bought “grass” from a dealer in the past, they must not have known that it was not marijuana. No wonder tourists were confused – everywhere in the center of Prague, there are pictures of marijuana publicly promoting on signboards and in shop windows.
The fact that the public promotion of marijuana in the center of Prague is a holiday is probably not outraged by the management of Prague. No wonder, after all, in addition to the head of the Pirate Party, Ivan Bartoš, even the mayor of Prague, Zdeněk Hřib, arrived for the “marijuana march” two years ago, who also sponsored the event. In addition, he praised the event, which promoted the “green plant”, as a speaker on the stage.

However, so far only cannabis with almost zero THC content is waiting for tourists in the store. And not just there. Even dealers often sell cannabis teas, or even hay or dried pieces of turf, to marijuana – which is why many of them are not afraid of the police at all – they are in danger of holding something on a mown English lawn.
In addition, dealers have also changed tactics and are no longer just standing, but trying to be on the move.
But not only them. It is necessary that the faces of journalists are already pierced, it is necessary to use extras posing as students on an exchange stay. And in the end everything was different. “I can get you weed and now I have xanax with me,” offered the first seller, who, in addition to marijuana, also had a very popular sedative compound belonging to the group of benzodiazepines, which he sells only on prescription.
The problem was not even with something “sharper”. “I can get you cocaine and MDMA (ecstasy, editor’s note), “Then a man from Egypt offered himself safely, saying,” Don’t worry. This is our party. We deliver everything. You have come to the city of sins. “
Subsequently, a couple from the group led to the sellers after arranging the offer. And the “goods” are then easily handed over in one of the toilets of a nearby club in the “city of sins”.
