All songs will now be carefully considered by a professional jury, led by producer Karin Gunnarsson.
Karin Gunnarsson said:
“It’s incredibly fun to see how engaging Melodifestivalen is. Over the past ten years, we have received an average of 2,500 applications each year.
I can not help but think of the musical breadth that exists in our country and the joy of writing that does Melodifestivalen a Swedish song cat every year.
Like this year. Many of this year’s Mello songs are still streamed and several are played regularly on the radio.
It is always exciting to hear what has come in. It will be great fun to take part in all the entries and start working on a strong starting field that will compete in Melodifestivalen 2022. ”
With 2,530 entries, the total number of Melfest entries will decrease slightly from 2021, which led to 2,747 songs being thrown into the ring.
The record for most items still belongs Melodifestivalen 2011, where 3,832 entries were submitted for processing before the live broadcasts started.
Karin Gunnarsson’s professional jury will select 14 songs from the submitted entrees, with the remaining 14 entries selected by SVT.
The 28 selected will be revealed later this fall and will continue to compete in the programs that Oscar Zia arranges next spring.
