Important names of the European gulf are participating in the Athens Conference. Among them are European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, French President Emmanuel Macron, and the Prime Ministers of Italy and Spain, Mario Draghi and Pedro Sanchez.

The French president’s participation comes a day after the overthrow of the geopolitical scene with the tripartite defense pact against the Chinese power that promotes the annoyance of France, calling the agreement a “back knife”. The two texts

In the countries that will participate in EUMED9, Croatia and Slovenia are offered for the first time.

More specifically, the leaders of the Mediterranean countries – Greece, France, Spain, Italy, Cyprus, Croatia, Malta, Portugal and Slovenia – will exchange views on two key issues, the climate crisis and security challenges that threaten the stability of the region. which is influenced by many factors, from the delinquent behavior of third countries in the Eastern Mediterranean and the situation in countries such as Lebanon and Libya, to the developments in Afghanistan and the concerns that will trigger new refugee flows.

Two texts are expected to be adopted by the leaders of the countries participating in the Conference, the Athens Declaration on Climate Change and the Environment and the Med9 Political Declaration.

The declaration on the climate crisis is an initiative of Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who is high on the agenda and the aim of the initiative is to mobilize the forces of the Mediterranean countries against the new images. As the government spokesman stated during yesterday’s briefing of the political authors, the prime minister’s initiative will focus on the climate crisis, the protection of the environment and the need for joint action and cooperation of the Mediterranean countries.
