Billie Jean King Cup: Program and results of the former Fed Cup

The Billie Jean King Cup was previously played as the Fed Cup, and in 2020 the competition was renamed in honor of the famous American tennis player and fighter for gender equality and social justice.

The Czech national team will compete in Group D with Germany and Switzerland, while the participation of Captain Petr Pál has so far been confirmed by Barbora Krejčíková and Kateřina Siniaková. Petra Kvitová, on the other hand, apologized.

Group A consists of advocates from France, Canada and the Russian Tennis Federation, in Group B the forces of Australia, Belarus and Belgium have changed, and in Group C the United States, Slovakia and Spain.

Only the winners of each group will advance to the semifinals. Teams can nominate up to five players, the composition must be announced by October 4. However, until the start of the tournament, three changes are allowed.

To make the match will consist of two two to two winning sets and a doubles, which in the case of a 1: 1 situation on the sets is decided by a super tiebreak to ten points. Only in the finals will he have the third set of the classic gamma format.

The double is also played by the system without any advantage, so with a score of 40:40 it is definitely the only exchange.

The champions and defeated finalists will automatically secure the qualification for the final tournament in 2022. The remaining ten teams will compete for promotion to the winners of today’s playoffs.
