Parliament: Polaki’s immunity was lifted by the Ethics Committee

Positive opinion in favor of the plenary waiver of immunity of the SYRIZA MP Pavlou Polakis received by a majority of the Ethics Committee of the Parliament regarding the approval for the offenses of defamatory discomfort and the exit that had been submitted by the Governor of the Bank of Greece Giannis Stournaras on 25 November 2020.

According to information from the closed-door meeting of the Committee, ND, KINAL and Hellenic Solution were “in favor” of the lifting of the MP’s immunity.

SYRIZA and MERA 25 voted “against”, while with “present” they joined the KKE. Mr. Polakis is not provided to the Commission nor did he send a memorandum with their positions.

The opinion of the Committee was tabled in plenary, where it will take the final decision by roll-call vote.

It is recalled that last October with two reports The SYRIZA MP from Chania called Giannis Stournaras a “pitiful and miserable banker” and asked him to answer a series of questions regarding newspaper revelations about the cancellation of the loans.
