The mayor of Prague 10 took Babiš’s former branch to court
Start this year was marked by the fight for safety against the covid-19. These were narrow-profile goods, demand far exceeded supply, and the media also revealed many cases of favoring relatives and acquaintances. After a few months, the then situation is reflected in the lawsuit of two politicians from Prague 10.
According to information from the List of Reports, the mayor and senator Renata Chmelová (Koalice Vlasta) sued her predecessor in the municipal function and now the opposition representative Radmila Kleslová (YES movement) before a civil court. The mayor asks an apology from the woman, who in the past was also the vice-president of the Babiš movement and a close collaborator of Andrej Babiš, and also wants her to withdraw her statements.
In March this year, Radmila Kleslová states in the local periodical “Vaše 10” that “Mayor Chmelová promotes the priority vaccination of town hall employees, which in times of shortage she may consider a glaring manifestation of papalism”.
Offer from Arenberger
Renata Chmelová describes the statement as alive, she means that in the eyes of the inhabitants of Prague 10 she must damage it, make it appear that she failed and question its moral quality.
“It simply came to my notice then. People called me and asked how this is possible at all, “says the mayor, adding that the town hall did not favor anyone in providing the service and did not even strive for it.
Let us just recall that two situations have arisen which may give rise to speculation. The first was already in January, when vaccination was just starting in the Czech Republic. At that time, according to the mayor of its city district, the director of the Faculty Hospital in Královské Vinohrady, Petr Arenberger (later Minister of Health), offered whether he did not want to use the vaccination benefits that currently exist in the hospital for citizens.
“Mr. Arenberger came to my office directly with the offer. But it was definitely not like we would recommend it to the town hall staff. We contacted the district physicians to select suitable patients from the oldest seniors. It was about two hundred doses at the time, but the central reservation system still did not work, “notes Chmelová.
In mid-January, the News list also described the then vaccination at that time, when the hospital was given to dozens of pensioners over the age of 80 from Prague 10 and 3 in Vinohrady.
According to the mayors, another similar situation occurred when Prague 10 received an offer from the Prague vaccination coordinator for faster vaccination of people who are part of crisis management.
“But we rejected it and insisted that we prefer to get people who work in field social services,” says Chmelová.
Kleslová: I’ll prove it
Defendant representative Kleslová says that she is sure that she has not committed any lies and does not intend to take back her words about the papacy of the current mayor.
“I will definitely not be intimidated by the lawsuit filed by Mayor Chmelová. I prepared the defendant’s statements to prove in court, “she responded to the question List of Reports. He doesn’t want to talk about the evidence yet.
Kleslová is surprised that Chmelová has a need for media statements, which are a common part of political life, she deals with in court.
“As an opposition politician, I cannot act otherwise than closely monitor the activities of the ruling coalition in Prague 10, headed by the mayor, and publicly point out its actions if it is not in accordance with legal regulations or general interests,” says Radmila Kleslová.
