The famous Norwegian architectural studio Snøhetta opened his large solo exhibition Arctic Nordic Alpine in the Jaroslav Fragner Gallery in Prague. Until October 13, it is possible to see a large part of their most significant implemented or currently being prepared projects. Here you will find viewpoints, restaurants, lookout towers, museums and entire residential areas.
“The Arctic Nordic Alpine project shows modern architecture in a dramatic, mostly Norwegian or mountain environment. These are pioneering projects by the internationally renowned architectural and design studio Snøhett from Norway, which prepared the exhibition. These include the Svart Hotel in Svartisen, the Svalbard Archipelago Visitor Center, the Bolzano Museum Quarter and the Oslo Opera House, for which the studio received the 2009 Mies van der Rohe Prize. These buildings prove that architecture can be one of the means to mitigate the effects of climate change, thanks to its design and modern innovative solutions that are environmentally friendly, “says the curator of the exhibition Klára Pučerová.
“Architecture, as I see it, is probably designed to create a better environment for humans and other beings on Earth.”
Kjetil Trædal Thorsen, co-founder of Snøhett
The exhibition also includes engaging projects such as the Underwater restaurant Under, the famous reindeer observatory, the metal lookout tower of Innsbruck, the Arctic Arc Museum and the winning urban plan for Budapest. In the exhibition, projects are projects in the form of models, visualizations, photographs or projections. Part of the exhibition is also located in front of the gallery itself.
