Protector or knot? Question of the position of Alexander Arnold
Few and rare are players who already in the locality 22 can stand especially who have won the Premier League championship and the Champions League and one such is Trent Alexander Arnold. The Liverpool academy’s midfielder got a chance from Morgan Klopp somewhere in 2016 and has since been one of its important foremen and one who is set to be the next captain after Jordan Henderson.
Alexander Arnold’s offensive abilities and game vision are quite rare for a right-back so many are convinced that this is only a temporary position before breaking the link. Philip Lahm could compare my performances and career and also Joshua Kimich frequently skips between positions, adding in particular the fact that Liverpool crave a creative connection and you get a formula that could be a winner.
Actually, Jürgen Klopp tried his best to put Alexander Arnold in the link back in 2018 due to a plague of injuries, but abandoned the idea soon and recently the one who came back to use it is Gareth Southgate. The England coach took advantage of the weakness of her rival Andorra over the national team competition and played 45 minutes with the defender in the link which led to two key passes and two threats on goal.
“Special studies have shown that there are question marks about Trent’s defensive abilities, but when there is time to change the ball it is like a contact,” explained past contact and current commentator Roy Keane. “He has the qualities of delivery and acceptance of the diseases and I think playing on other players can find themselves and play in some positions.”
However, Alexander Arnold himself is not really convinced that this is such a smart move. “It’s a new and slightly different role. It was difficult for me to get the ball in the link, but anyway even when I am a right-back I am dragged to the middle and try to influence the game,” the defender claimed after the game against Andorra.
Klopp also did not understand Southgate’s experiment and the illustration of Liverpool’s game against Leeds claimed: “A game like this, in which England are dominant or maybe dominant, I should play with him as the good back midfielder as 8. It is possible, but why take the good right defender Most in the world and put it in a link? I do not understand.
