The World Cup startup for half a million dollars will culminate in Prague
The deadline for applications to the competition is September 15. Registration is free, just fill it out online questionnaire in English, which takes them thirty to sixty minutes. They will then compete on October 5 and 6 at the Prague SWCSummit, whose media partner is the daily E15. First, a competition round of participants from the Visegrad Four countries will take place, followed by a pan-European final.
“The projects that get to the jury are really at a high level. This is also evidenced by their results. For example, last year’s regional round of the Visegrad Four was dominated by the Slovak project Glycanostics. The Czech startup 24 Vision Systems, which was awarded a wild card by the jury, reached the bronze medal in the European final, “says Tomáš Cironis, director of SWCSummit. At the same time, the competition is not small, 530 projects applied to last year’s regional round of the V4 countries alone.
Not only the winners of the regional rounds will go to the Prague continental final, but also the winners of several other startup competitions, such as the Czech Startup Challenge, Creative Business Cup or Powermotion. “By covering other events, we have moved the prestige of the event to an even higher level than before. SWCSummit thus becomes something of a ‘Champions League’ in the field of startup competitions, “adds Cironis.
This year’s SWCSummit is produced in the premises of the Azyl 78 tent in Prague’s Stromovka. The action due to the pandemic will partly take place online. For example, this year’s main host, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, will perform online from California.
Esther Wojcicki, a renowned teacher and author of a bestseller about raising successful children, known as the “godfather of Silicon Valley”, will also speak to the participants. The summit will also feature Kyle Corbitt, CEO of Y Combinator, one of the world’s largest startup incubators.
SWCSummit also offers space for startups to meet potential partners, as investors, mentors and representatives of corporations from all over the world come to the event every year. This part of the program can be used not only by participants in competitions, but also by representatives of other startups who buy the appropriate ticket.
