San Marino called to choose life or death
The Republic of San Marino is preparing to go to the polls. The appointment is for September 26, when a Referendum will establish whether the citizens of the small state will be in favor or against the decriminalization of abortion.
According to the law in force today, abortion is illegal in any form and is therefore a crime punishable by imprisonment from 3 to 6 years pursuant to articles 153 and 154 of the San Marino criminal code.
The more than 34 thousand voters (data dating back to 2019) are therefore called to obtain their reach but it will not be necessary to reach the quorum, since it is not provided for by the law of the State.
Today, 10 September, the organizing committee e the committee opposed to decriminalization will open at the same time (and in different spaces) the campaign with speeches and speeches.
The referendum question, to which the citizens of San Marino hopefully answer NO – is the following: “Do you want the woman to be allowed to consider pregnancy within the 12th week of gestation, and also subsequently whether there is a danger to life of the woman or if there are anomalies and malformations of the fetus that pose a serious risk to the physical or psychological health of the woman? “.
