Traffic on the streets: Where there is traffic jams now in Athens
From this morning, on September 9, Syntagma Square “moves” to the rhythm of EKO Rally Acropolis. The central square of the country will host the EKO Rally Acropolis, being the point where the World Rally Championship will be “introduced” to every citizen or visitor of Athens.
Especially for Thursday, September 9, the roads around Syntagma Square will compose the 0.98 km long first special route of the race, from where at 18:08 you will hear the first racing sound of EKO Rally Acropolis!
Traffic regulations in the center of Athens there will be throughout the day, due to the Acropolis Rally, which will start in the afternoon.
Athens is moving at the rhythm of the Acropolis Rally with the city center paralyzed for 10 whole hours, as for the first time the event starts from the Acropolis and with the first “special route” in Syntagma Square. As for public transport, the metro station in Syntagma is closing, but there will also be tram services. From early today the traffic is increased both in the center of Athens and on the highways.
At this time, a few minutes before 10 in the morning, traffic is running smoothly, however small delays are recorded in both streams of Kifissos, on Vasilissis Sofias Avenue. and on Vassileos Konstantinou, Vassilissi Amalia, Filellinon, Michalakopoulou.
