Prague is the seventh best city in the world
“Lockdowny hit Prague suddenly and hard – but fortunately its beauty remained intact,” describes Time Time magazine. He adds that the locals, on the other hand, could get the metropolis as they never dreamed of before – they could walk along the almost empty Charles Bridge or Old Town Square. “The Czech capital is incredibly accessible, as many as 89 percent of people say that it is easy to move around without a car,” the magazine added.
He highlighted the large green areas, specifically Prague 6, where residents can play sports, read, have picnics or sledge all year round. The picturesque architecture of the city also plays a significant role.
Already this year, Time Out declared Prague’s Křižíkova eleventh most trendy street in the world.
San Francisco deviates
The first place in the ranking, which consists of a total of 37 world capitals, was occupied by the American San Francisco. On it, Time Out appreciates that it never merged and always deviated from the crowd. The magazine also highlights the local community or the number of so-called parklets – sidewalk extensions, often various green areas with benches and the like.
Second place went to Amsterdam, which is notorious for its wild drunkenness, but is also one of the greenest cities in the ecological sense. Locals praise the modern environment and sustainability.

He appreciated the community spirit
The ranking in the Time Out magazine’s 2021 Index of the World’s Best Cities this year is based on a survey of 27,000 participants from around the world, as well as contributors and editors of their own periodicals. “Cities were evaluated for food, drink, culture, nightlife, but still with an emphasis on community spirit and various environmental initiatives,” the magazine commented.
“Our annual Time Out Index allows us to express what the inhabitants of the cities themselves think about cities. This year’s list focused on the metropolis, which was able to adapt even at a time when their main key factors – entertainment, culture and socialization – had to recede into the background, “said Caroline McGinn, editor-in-chief of the international editorial staff.

“You would think that the pandemic did not completely forget the meaning of life in the city, but the results show that the community spirit is stronger than ever,” she added.
Time Out magazine began publishing in 1968 as a purely London publication. Over time, however, it has expanded into a periodical with an international dimension, regularly issuing recommendations on approximately 320 cities in 58 countries.
