Housing for evacuated Afghan families is being sought. I offer Prague or Pardubice Region – ČT24 – Czech Television
For example, the family of Amirzada Ahmadzai flew from Kabul, Afghanistan, on the second Czech evacuation flight. After arriving in the Czech Republic, she was placed in the Center for Biological Protection in Těchonín and now it is being decided what will happen next.
Ahmadzai claims that he and his relatives want to stay in the Czech Republic. “I love the Czech Republic, I will work here, I will live here. My friends offered me a job opportunity and also accommodation, “said an Afghan who speaks fluent Czech.
Prague or Pardubice
The capital city of Prague, as well as other Czech regions, are now looking for facilities that could potentially serve as a temporary refuge for evacuated Afghans. “We offered a similar option as in the previous solution to the situation of Belarusian dissidents, when in March we complied with the ministry’s request and rented six city apartments,” said Prague Mayor Zdeněk Hřib (Pirates).
Housing for evacuated Afghans can be located in the Pardubice region, it is an empty boarding school in Rybitví. “We do not know how many people would be affected at all and for how long, because this building cannot be used for permanent accommodation,” said the governor of the Pardubice region Martin Netolický (CSSD), noting that modifications to the building will be necessary.
However, Rybitví Mayor Eva Šmeralová (non-member) has no information about the region’s plan yet. “It would be a matter of negotiations and probably a decision of the council,” she responded.
The Czech Republic evacuated a total of 169 Afghans. So far, most of them remain in the facilities of the Ministry of Defense and also the Ministry of the Interior, until the end of the admission procedure and the granting of international protection.
