Czech Post sells assets for more than half a billion. Mainly in Prague

The property post office sells at auctions. This year, it has completed a hundred e-auctions and wants to catch dozens of them by the end of the year. Therefore, valuation, auctioning or sales completion processes are currently underway.

“These are both hundreds of millions of buildings and small garages or land that only burden us and we don’t need them. We anticipate that we will auction the residual assets for about six hundred million for the whole year, “said Knap, who has been running the post office since mid-2018.

The lowest starting price of the auctioned property is always determined by an expert opinion. The number of buildings sold should not exceed one hundred this year. “The most important objects in terms of this year’s sales are now in the pre-closing phase, and for this reason we can at least state the place. This is Prague, “added Matyáš Vitík, a spokesman for the company.

The post office wants to sell, among other things, the administrative part of its headquarters in Politických vězňů Street in the first part of Prague – not the post office branch in Jindřišská Street, which it used to work on. server SZ. The annual cost of operating the current headquarters alone exceeds forty million.

“We need assets to invest in. The property that operates burdens us and requires care costs is only to the detriment, “Knap explained.

With the auction of hundreds of millions, the post office finances, among other things, the move to the new headquarters. It is not yet clear where it will go, the company is considering moving to a new building in Vysočany. The post office is now negotiating land with the local city district and addressing the form and price of the new headquarters. In addition to moving, they also use the proceeds from the auctions to transform into two separate companies and to improve conditions for employees.

Fairs report a restart. They can award millions of orders to Czech exporters

The state-owned company continues to sell assets at a time when it is facing the harsh effects of a pandemic. It lost 1.4 billion last year, and another almost half of production in the previous two years. If he had not “helped” this year by selling his property, he would have lost about half a billion, Knap also said.

“We are fulfilling the plan, but that does not mean that we are fine, we have a huge amount of work ahead of us. The post office must be restructured. Without it, it will never be profitable. The transformation is to be completed by the end of 2022, and from 2023 the post office will operate in two separate companies. At that moment, part of the commercial services must be automatically self-financing and slightly profitable, “said Knap.

Although the post office focuses primarily on downsizing, it is also preparing new investments. For example, it will issue a tender for the purchase of about 260 e-bikes, which are intended to make work easier for postmen. At the same time, it is considering acquisitions of companies in the market for services for e-shops. These are, for example, the area of package delivery, warehouse management or large and pallet logistics.
