Vienna Austria has recorded the highest number of corona death areas since the end of June. The government said yesterday, according to a report by the news agency, that eight people died within 24 hours of the consequences of the viral disease APA with.

There is also a sharp increase in COVID-19 patients in intensive care units. There are currently 170 seriously ill people being treated there. This is an increase of 120 percent within two weeks.

The Ministry of Interior and Health in Vienna also reported more than 1,400 new infections within 24 hours, which is the highest Monday value since the end of April. In the Alpine republic, more than 10,800 people have died as a result of the infection since the beginning of the pandemic.

Meanwhile, Austria’s Chancellor Sebastian Kurz (VP) closed in ORF-Summer talk lockdowns for all citizens according to the previous model. There will certainly be no more lockdowns for vaccinated people, said Kurz.

In the event that the health system is overloaded, access to night restaurants and major events, for example, will only be blocked for unvaccinated people. The Chancellor was rather relaxed on the question of the declining willingness to vaccinate. We will not be able to take all fears away. It is clear that everyone who has not been vaccinated will sooner or later become infected with the corona virus.

The emerging fourth wave will by far not be the last, said Kurz. The virus will still be around ten years from now. It is generally difficult to predict the further course of the pandemic.

What would throw me off balance would be if there was a variant that wasn’t covered by vaccination. Or if we saw vaccination breakthroughs on a massive scale. © afp / aerzteblatt.de
