it will get stuck on the road
Seen from the side of motorists, it’s gone for ten months of galley. This Monday, in Annecy, work begins to modernize and secure the Albert-Lebrun bridge. The building is hidden under the busy road passing in front of the Bonlieu center. Built in 1934, today it “can no longer support the current road traffic and inspections of the structure have revealed damage” specifies the town hall.
Disturbances
For the city, no other choice than to demolish this old bridge to rebuild it identically. The work is scheduled until June 2022 and will cause significant traffic difficulties since two traffic lanes are accommodated (quai Eustache Chappuis between rue Jean Jaurès and quai Jules Philippe). The remaining two lanes are divided between each direction of traffic.
Take the opportunity to change
“It can be a nice mess”, recognizes Marion Lafarie, assistant to the town hall of Annecy. “If 100% of motorists passing by continue to do so, there is bound to be a bottleneck.” So to avoid this, the city is hoping for a change in the behavior of certain users. “This is an opportunity to wonder about your means of transport, believes Marion Lafarie. The idea is to convince those who have alternatives to the car to favor these solutions. ”
There are still too many motorists alone in their car in Annecy. “- Marion Lafarie, Deputy Mayor of Annecy
And to encourage Annecy residents to leave their car, the city and agglomeration of Greater Annecy have notably increased the number of Sibra buses (see below). Eight relay car parks have also been arranged around the lake in order to leave your car and get on a bus. Some are permanent and can serve as a meeting point for carpooling.
