Young and result? Find the leader in you!
On September 12, the ‘Ambassadeurs van Amsterdam’ program will start especially for young Amsterdammers between the ages of 18 and 25. You will work on managers in two months skills you need to shape your own future – and that of Amsterdam. And the best news: there is no room yet.
Ambassadors of Amsterdam is a first-class and at the same time free leadership program in which you, as a young adult Amsterdammer, challenge can work on skills such as:
- Speaking in public
- Writing project plans
- Organize activities
- community building
- Working together with municipalities, organizations and other Amsterdammers
The challenge
In 9 meetings at cool city locations you work together with other Amsterdam talents from different parts on a challenge: from an action for a football field in your neighborhood to organizing a festival about connection and setting up a youth program. In this way you work on your own future and you build the future of Amsterdam. While doing so, you will be supported by group counselors and you will receive personal coaching conversations. At the end you will receive a certificate of participation.
Learned much
Ambassador Pablo (21) has learned a lot from his participation in the program: “I’ve always had ideas for nature and sustainability. But Ambassadors of Amsterdam have made me appreciate the communication around that much more. I learned how to put words different ones and people can appear on your story.”
Out of the bubble
An advantage of ‘AvA’ is that you automatically come into contact with people from outside your other bubble. That also happened ambassador Sophie (26) white society probably feel this way more often. Pablo comes from Vinkeveen and sees a big contrast with Amsterdam. “But I think that’s beautiful. Amsterdam is super multicultural, which makes the city very interesting. In Amsterdam we also live in a bubble, but there are many other bubbles within it.”
The future of Amsterdam
As an Ambassador of Amsterdam you immediately contribute to the future of our city. Ambassador Nihal (21) grew up in East and wants, for example, to make Amsterdam’s neighborhoods greener. In East there are now large planters in which the residents can plant. This will be a great way to bring residents together.” Above all, Sophie wants Amsterdam Echt to be a city for: “A social and tolerant city, a city where you can be yourself, explosion of everyone you love what your roots are. But if I were mayor, I’d start with education, so the place where your cradle is shouldn’t determine your future.”
