It is one of the last creations of the Haut-Savoyard artist Marc Simonetti, made public on August 30, 2021. We see emblematic buildings of Annecy architecture, mounted one on top of the other until the ancient mountain.
At its feet, a stream that can be imagined to be the Thioud. And in the center of the image, a woman in a swimsuit getting ready to jump and dive into the water: it’s “The Bather of Annecy”.
Its world-renowned creator, Marc Simonetti, has been awarded News Haute-Savoie.

Dozens of Annecy buildings photographed and digitally recreated
This original creation was not an order. These are the many walks by Marc Simonetti in the streets of Annecy, the city where he grew up and where he has lived for more than 40 years, which gave birth to inspiration at the artist.
He, who was not used to taking a photo of his city, suddenly started playing the paparazzi. If you live in Annecy, maybe you will recognize the facade of your home.

“It’s really a personal image, I was just inspired. I used the city buildings as a palette, I chose and took pictures of those that had a nice color and told a story, ”explains the artist.
But this particular Annecy architecture, Marc Simonetti anchored it in the universe surreal and fancy with which he is used to working.
“I don’t know why, I always imagined that a cliff would suddenly emerge from Annecy. So by creating this illustration, the idea came to me rather naturally. And then in fantasy, we are used to de ordinary in terms of dimension, as is the case here. “
Grandiose architecture lover, he created a mountain in 3d, pasted these photos of buildings, then repainted them digitally before adding light, another element he particularly likes.
I received some questions regarding this image.
I made the 3D using the awesome @Mrdodobird “method” with the mixer that I learned with his boss.
It is not a photobashing.
The auction will end in 4:30 🙂

And in the middle of these buildings, is the only character of the image, which gives it its name. “For me this bather is a bit the allegory of the sweetness of life in Annecy“, Confides Marc Simonetti. A feeling of softness, accentuated by the warm colors chosen by the artist, to give “this character dreamlike ” at work.
“The bather of Annecy” soon on sale as a poster
A truly declaration of love in Annecy, in short. And this is not the first time, that Marc Simonetti has portrayed the beauty of his Haut-Savoyard environment. “I often use what I see, forests, lakes, or waterfalls. Haute-Savoie, Annecy, it’s my visual library, I get inspired when I create. But never had it been so blatant. “
