The Martin Fourcade Nordic Festival begins this Friday in Annecy. This second edition will offer races bringing together world-class biathletes but also initiations for the general public. Update on the program.

Everything for biathlon enthusiasts. For three days, from September 3 to 5, the Martin Fourcade Nordic Festival will shake the Pâquier in Annecy, in Haute-Savoie. The second edition of the event begins on Friday when the ticket office is (almost) full. On the program: a concert for the opening, the biggest names in biathlon at the rendezvous and introductions to this sport. Still hesitating to participate? Here are three things to know about the event.

Gaëtan Roussel at the opening

Singer Gaëtan Roussel will provide the opening night of the Martin Fourcade Nordic Festival on Friday. The singer of the group Louise Attaque performs on an ephemeral stage installed on the biathlon shooting range. There are still places available on the festival site. This event will be subject to the health pass.

The biggest names in biathlon

Antonin Guigonnat, Julia Simon, Quentin Fillon-Maillet … Many world-class athletes will participate in the biathlon race on Saturday. The men’s and women’s competitions will take place in the afternoon, as will the sprint ski wheel races. All under the eyes of the recently retired festival organizer, Martin Fourcade. In total, 50 athletes of 10 different nationalities take part in the competition in front of some 4,000 people present in the stands.

General public initiations

How about trying biathlon? As part of the festival, general public events will take place all day Sunday. The morning will be devoted to the youngest with lessons on foot and shooting at 10 meters. And in the afternoon, it’s time for adults gathered in 100 teams of four to six people. They will compete for 3 hours to complete a maximum of 1 km laps with obstacle clearance and rifle shooting. Reservations are full for this event.

On the sidelines of the event, an exhibitor village will be open every day on the Pâquier on presentation of the health pass and up to a limit of 5,000 people simultaneously.
