More local injection teams to increase vaccination coverage

Many Amsterdammers have already been vaccinated. Nevertheless, the general vaccination rate in Amsterdam is lower than the national one. That is why we are going to deploy additional screening teams, fixed and mobile. At suitable locations in neighborhoods and close to places where many young people and students come.

On average, 3 mobile injection teams drive around per week and 14 injection teams are at a fixed location for information, conversations and vaccinations. The 4 major locations (RAI, Buikslotermeerplein, Anton de Komplein and Plein ’40-’45) will also remain open.

Differ

The GGD in Amsterdam has fully vaccinated 67% of the inhabitants of the 18 plus group, with the exception of 61-70 year-olds (who are often vaccinated by the GP). Vaccinations by general practitioners are included in these figures. Nationally this is 73%. We see large differences in age groups and city districts. We see this in other major cities as well.

the boroughs

In the Center and South, the vaccination rate is on average higher than the national average. In West and East, the general opinion rate is approximately equal to the national average. In New West and Southeast, the vaccination rate is 15% points lower than nationally, in North it is 7 percentage points. In East we see a low vaccination rate in a number of neighbourhoods. There is also a disadvantage in the age group up to 24 years.

In the middle of the neighbourhoods

Amsterdam will do everything it can to achieve at least the national vaccination coverage in the entire city. We work in the middle of neighborhoods where there are fewer vaccinated people, and close to groups such as young people, undocumented migrants, labor migrants and sex workers. And do so together with 150 organizations – think of schools, employers, community centers, care institutions, youth workers and more. We talk to people as much as possible. They can contact us with all their critical and non-critical questions. The conversations are sometimes intensive and complex, but we want to give all people enough space to ask questions.

17 prick teams

On average, 14 permanent screening teams and 3 mobile screening teams are in operation per week at low-threshold places such as churches, community centers and places for young people. These are, for example, the Student Hotel and the mobile screening team on Roeterseiland. We often use communication tools such as videos, flyers and webinars. We are organizing a series of conversations about vaccination with youth organisations. There is also a campaign specifically aimed at young people.
