Israel on the threshold of the fourth lockdown. The 40th dose is already vaccinated by the third dose
Together with the United Kingdom, it is one of the vaccine premiums, but unlike the islands, in Israel, in connection with the missile permit for the number of infected, it tightens the measures and threatens a fourth lockdown. There are now tens of thousands of active cases of covid in Israel, which is 9 million in Israel, which was less than 200 two months ago.
The third dose for residents over 40 on Friday was recommended by an advisory panel of the Israeli government. So far, people over the age of 50 have received the third dose in Israel. The country thus wants to limit the spread of the highly contagious variant of the delta and end the current wave of infection. In Israel, which has a population of 9 million, Pfizer and BioNTech Protection are mainly used, and both benefits were received by over 5.4 million people. Experts are considering extending the third dose vaccination to all those who received the second person five months ago.
Forty-nine-year-old Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has called on all Israelis who are entitled to a booster benefit to seek protection. According to him, the cooperation of all is necessary to prevent the wave of the delta variant and the fourth closure. “We can win together,” he said.
According to experts, the third dose makes sense. “Today we can say that strengthening injections for people over 60 and 50 years of age play their role in the sense that they reduce the risk of infection,” the daily quotes Ha’arec Professor Ran Balicer, one of the most respected epidemiologists in Israel. Coronavir transmission slows in this age group, he noted. “In recent days, we have seen a slowdown in the housing of new cases in people aged 60 and older, a group mostly vaccinated with the third dose,” he added. According to studies by Israel, over time, protection of those vaccinated against the disease declines, with the third dose significantly boosting immunity.
Israel reported 7922 new infections on Wednesday, with 5.5 percent of more than 145,000 tried and tested positive. 599 people are hospitalized in serious condition with covid-19. Since the beginning of the epidemic, 6,723 people have died on covid-19, and more than 960,000 of the nine million Israelis have become infected.
In Israel, we will start with the third dose in August, first people over the age of 60 and people with weakened immunity, then the group extended to citizens over the age of 50, and now they have moved the borders again by ten years. However, the World Health Organization does not yet consider the third dose necessary and argues that it is first necessary to obtain the widest possible basic vaccination of people.
Some Israeli insurance companies have to revaccinate people over the age of 40 to start on Friday, others on Sunday. So far, 1.2 million citizens have received the third benefit in Israel.
Earlier this month, the government extended the obligation to prove with a so-called green passport (proving full vaccination, recovery from covid-19 or a negative test up to 72 hours old) to restaurants, cafes and gyms. Previously, it was necessary to prove this document only at events with a hundred or more people. On Sunday, the government agreed on new measures to take effect this week, it is not yet clear when.
The new measures include limiting the number of people in shops larger than 100 square meters and further limiting the number of people at mass events. Newly, the covid passport should also be mandatory for children from the age of three, which children under the age of 12 will be able to prove instead only by a certificate of antigen test up to 24 hours old.
