Commemoration of the birth of Bohumil Turk
The participants of the race started driving to the center of Prague in front of the Autoclub building in Opletalova Street on Wednesday afternoon. Hundreds of people can be admired on the spot.
This year’s event is a commemoration of the 120th anniversary of the birth of the car racer Bohumil Turk, whose previous end in 1935 crashed in the race of 1000 Czechoslovak miles.
The retro ride, organized by the Association of 1000 Miles of Czechoslovakia together with Veteran Car Club Prague, Autoklub ČR and Design Veteran Car Club Bratislava every year since 2015, renews the tradition of the famous car race from the 1930s. The high-speed touring car race took place on the then-necessary domestic road route Prague – Bratislava – Prague and the participants completed it twice, for a total of almost 1,600 of them.
