Clearly: Prague and the Central Bohemian Region are raising the price of fares, and the metropolis is introducing a tariff for the poor
Both municipalities justify the rise in rising costs for the operation of public transport.
The capital city of Prague and the Central Bohemian Region will increase the price of fares in the Prague integrated transport system starting on 1 August. The prices of one-off tickets in Prague and its surroundings will increase by about 20 to 25 percent; in the Central Bohemian Region, the same increase applies to prepaid tickets. In Prague, the subscription does not change.
For further adjustments to some other travel documents, for example, the tariff for the purchase of luggage and a dog will be increased from 16 to 20 crowns. For travel around Prague (except for trains) as PID subscription coupons, the transport of luggage and dogs remains free.
Main changes of the PID Tariff from 1 August 2021
• increase in the prices of one-time 30-minute tickets from CZK 24 to 30 and ninety-minute tickets from CZK 32 to 40 for travel around Prague (which, however, retain the prices of long-term coupons for Prague)
• increase in the prices of one- and multi-day tourist tickets for Prague and the Central Bohemian Region
• increase in the price of one-off and prepaid tickets in the Central Bohemian Region by approx. 25%
• simplification of proving free transport for children and young people up to the age of 18 seniors from the age of 65 in Prague’s public transport, except for trains (now it will be enough to just prove the age)
• in Prague, a new type of fare for people in material need receiving a living allowance of approximately 70% of the normal fare. Monthly ticket CZK 165, quarterly CZK 444. The discount is approved until 31 December 2022. It is necessary to apply the discount get a PID Card for people in material need.
• the cable car to Petřín is now CZK 60 per ride (subscribers and holders of tourist tickets still do not have to pay anything extra)
• special Airport Express bus line newly for CZK 100 (so far CZK 60)
• New possibility to buy a PID ticket also from a train guide
