The Polish motorway is already at the borders of the Czech Republic, and an expressway is also being prepared. Prague is not catching up, it is lagging behind
The Czechia is not catching up with its Polish neighbors in the construction of two transport connections. Poles have an advantage both with the preparation of the high-speed line, which is to connect Wrocław and Prague, and with the construction of the S3 expressway, which is to be connected to the D11 motorway at the Czech border. Poland requires the construction of the S3 to be completed in 2023, the construction has already advanced to the borders. The Czechia will probably not be done until two years later.

How result server Zdopravy.cz, Polish period The Directorate of Roads and Motorways (ŘSD), ie the Generalna Dyrekcja Dróg Krajowych i Autostrad, arrived at the Czech border with the construction of the S3 expressway. Pictures from the construction published website follow the construction of the Polish road. They show construction work, which ends behind the southwestern Polish town of Lubawka, exactly on the border with the Czech Republic before Královec.
It is in Královec near Trutnov that the D11 is to be connected to the Polish road S3 under construction. The Poles plan to complete it by the approved date, ie in 2023. On the other hand, the Czechia has not yet built the D11 Trutnov – state border section for the years 2023 to 2025, as Jan Studecký, a spokesman for ŘSD, told the on-line daily Aktuálně.cz.
“We obtained a final zoning decision for the construction of D11 Trutnov – the state border of the Czech Republic / Poland last year. Therefore, land purchases and preparation of documentation for a building permit are currently underway. The construction is expected to be implemented in 2023-2025,” said Studecký.
Two sections with a total length of 31 million are currently being built in Poland. Bolków – Kamienna Góra and Kamienna Góra – Lubawka on the mentioned state border with the Czech Republic. As the Zdopravy.cz server pointed out, a situation will arise in the Czech Republic where traffic from a capacity road in Poland ends on a 1st class road.
The D11 motorway from Prague to Hradec Králové and on the state border with Poland is one of the longest-built road constructions. The state started working on it in 1978 and since 2017 the motorway ends in Hradec Králové. Of the planned 154, for example, the motorway is approximately 91 km long. The next section up to Jaroměř is to open at the end of this year.

In 2023, the construction of VRT is to begin
According to the Zdopravy.cz website, in addition to the motorway network, Poles are also ahead of the high-speed railway project, which is to connect Prague with Wrocław.
How the server notified, the Polish state – owned company Centralny Port Komunikacyjny (CPK) has already selected companies in two competitions for pre – project preparation of the line from Łód do to Wrocław and further to the Czech border. Companies have 14 months to complete their studies. The subject of the contract are technical, economic and environmental studies, the basis of pre-project documentation.
CPK also expects the construction to begin as early as 2023. On the other hand, the Czech side estimates that a feasibility study will be completed by the end of 2022. The Railway Administration (SŽ) awarded the study contract in April this year, the main goal of which is the design of high-speed routes between Prague, Hradec Králové and the border with Poland in the direction of Wrocław with a branch to Pardubice. In the Czech territory, the length of the railway should be around 160.
SŽ spokeswoman Nela Friebová added for Aktuálně.cz that the preparation of the line is in the pre-investment phase. “The designer is currently working on a feasibility study for this section of VRT. We expect it to be completed by the end of 2022,” she said.
