If you move: Maccabi Haifa against Budućnost / Torshavn
The draw for the third qualifying round of the Conference League, the new UEFA factory, was held today (Monday) at the organization’s offices. Maccabi Haifa, the Israeli representative in the championship track of the tournament, revealed that if they beat Dynamo Tbilisi in the second round, they will meet the winner between Budućnost (Montenegro champion) and Torshavn (Faroe Islands champion).
If you beat the Georgian champions, Barak Bachar’s team will host the winner in the corresponding match in the first match, which should take place on August 5 (Thursday), and will be hosted in the rematch in Montenegro or the Faroe Islands, a week later.
As you may recall, Maccabi Haifa was relegated to the third factory in the membership of UEFA, after losing 3: 1 in the overall summary of the double encounter against the champion of Kazakhstan, Kiryat Almaty, in the first advanced round of the Champions League.
A local empire or a team that is already a reality this season
The Montenegrins won their local league championship last year by a huge margin from second place (Sotieska who will play against Maccabi Tel Aviv in the second round) with 85 points, especially only 57 of the runners-up. The balance with which they finished the season was 27 wins, 4 draws and 5 losses (goal difference 29:65).
This was the 5th championship in their history and the second in a row, with the club’s resume also winning 3 local trophies. The Montenegrin bottle was the biggest investment in European factories, when it was its most sending product you were in 2016/2017, because my closest was the Genk in the second qualifying round of the Europa League, but was eventually eliminated on penalties. Its home stadium in Podgorica contains 17,000 seats. To the Conference League, Budućnost fell after losing 7-1 at risk of two games against champions Gran HJK in the first qualifying round of the Champions League.
Unlike the Montenegrins, the Faroe Islands champion already has information in the middle of the season in the domestic league, and after five rounds it stands in 3rd place with 30 points, a distance of 10 points from the top (missing game). In her local title closet you can find 24 championship titles and 28 trophies, but outside of Europe she does not hold extraordinary successes. In the 2010/11 season it recorded its most prestigious victory when it defeated Red Bull Salzburg 0-1 in the first game of the second qualifying round of the Champions League, but in the return match in Austria was defeated 0: 5 and relegated.
The team, which was already relegated in the early qualifying round of the Champions League after succumbing 1-0 to champions Andorra Inter Inter Escalades, is led by Danish referee Jonas Dal Andersen and its 5,000-seat home stadium.
