Prague – From today, the Prague metro will run again until midnight. Prague, ROPID and the Transport Company (DPP) have decided to extend the operation of the metro in connection with the growth in demand and the number of transported passengers in the metro after 20:00. The last daily metro connections will leave the center from 00:02 to 00:08, depending on the line and station. The operation of the metro ended around 23:00, it was limited due to the lower number of passengers related to anti-epidemic measures in the country.
The number of passengers using the metro in the evening gradually increased after the release of anti-epidemic measures and restrictions on population movement. While in April the transport company carried over 22,700 passengers a day in the entire metro network after 20:00 daily, in May it was over 34,400 passengers a day. From May 10, the operation of the metro was extended until 23:00. In the week after that, an average of over 36,600 people drove the meter every day after 20:00, and a month later over 51,800.
The last train sets on line A will run from today from the Muzeum station towards the Depo Hostivař station at 00:07 and from the Můstek station towards the Motol Hospital station a minute later. On line B, the trainsets will leave from the Florenc station to Černý Most and from the Můstek station to Zličín at 00:04. The train to the Háje station will leave the Muzeum station on line C at 00:02 and the last connection in the direction of Letňany will leave Florence at 00:05.
The last daily bus and tram connections will follow the last connection of the Prague metro. Following the extension of metro operation, the daily operation of surface public transport will also be slightly extended. From their final, bus and tram night connections will start around 23:45, while at present it was between 23:00 and 23:30. From today, the first departure of night tram lines from the central transfer point in Lazarská will be at 00:15 instead of 23:30. The departures of the last evening connections of suburban buses and trains are still maintained.
Prague’s public transport and suburban and regional buses now run according to the holiday timetable; in full operation, they will start running by tram and metro on 28 August.
