Shelters at stops and trash cans. Prague will buy new furniture
The current contract for the furniture provider expired at the end of June this year and the capital did not extend it. The new elements will require 689 million crowns, they will be installed in two years. The contract with the supplier is concluded by the municipal company Technologie of the Capital City of Prague, which has also prepared a tender and will ensure complete engineering and installation of the new furniture on its own. The specific form of the supplied elements was determined by an international design competition in 2016.
“The replacement of the old bus shelters will start in November this year. There will also be a reduction in visual smog on other facilities in our streets, “says Mayor Zdeněk Hřib.
“This is the completion of the process of renewing urban furniture, after two years ago we faced an almost insurmountable task of replacing all stops in the city. The renewal, which will be provided by the city company, will be gradual and will be gradually replaced piece by piece. It will therefore not be necessary to dig up the whole of Prague and solve the fact that suddenly in the whole of Prague it was raining on passengers at stops or they could not wait or get on them. The city will continue to own the entire network of stops and it will be up to them how they will behave within their commercial use, “said Jan Chabr, Councilor for Property Management.
“A public transport stop is an important element in public space, which is an integral part of public transport. Whether it is a transport construction or a stop, we must always think about the fact that the result looks nice and fits into its surroundings. I am glad that I have found a way to equip public transport stops with modern shelters, “added Adam Scheinherr, Deputy Minister for Transport.
