The number of coronavirus infections has not risen in the last week only in the capital and its surroundings. The second place where laboratories have confirmed a significantly faster spread of the infection is, according to health statistics from the Pilsen region.
On Friday, 40 new cases of the disease were confirmed in the Pilsen Region. In the last three working days, 106 infected people came to the region. This was the highest increase since the second half of May.
The fact that the Pilsen region is worse off than in other regions except Prague, according to data on confirmed data for the last seven days per 100,000 people. By Saturday morning, there were 24 people in the Pilsen region.
In comparison, Central Bohemia, for example, reported 15 infected people per 100,000 people, only four in the Zlín region and only five in southern Bohemia. Higher values were published only in Prague, where statistics showed 36 positive coronavirus infections per 100,000 people.
However, no specific outbreak has been reported in the Pilsen region yet.
“The increase in new cases compared to a week ago is probably related to the accumulation of people generally caused by the summer season and related activities, as well as the updating of the Infectious Diseases Information System. This fact is also evidenced by the low average age of disabled people, “said the director of the Pilsen Regional Hygiene Station Michal Bartoš in Friday’s report, which was provided by the Office of the President of the Pilsen Ilona Mauritzová.
More than half of those infected who tested coronavirus were between the ages of 20 and 30. “Several occurrences were recorded at children’s camps, one was closed,” wrote the head of the regional hygiene.
According to the records of hygienists, the number of those infected in the region is increasing in Pilsen. In the middle, it was 20 people. They also reported more infections than in previous days in the adjacent districts of Plzeň-sever, Plzeň-jih or Rokycany.
The Minister of Health Adam Vojtěch pointed out that the disease spreads mainly among young people at the beginning of the holidays. According to him, the government wants younger students to be vaccinated quickly. Covidid-19 vaccines are now being developed for children from the age of twelve.
