Tree felling, mining pit at the house. The representative for Pirates is fighting against metro D

Sugar Mizzy July 1, 2021

Metro D is one step closer to implementation. The Prague Transport Company (DPP) concluded a contract with the winner of the tender for the construction of the first part of the new underground railway, so far prevented by a preliminary measure issued last July by the Office for the Protection of Competition based on a proposal from Eurovia CS.

However, the only large building of the current municipal coalition is far from won. “Nothing changes in our further action, if a resolution of the Ministry of Transport was again issued to reject objections to bias, we will resubmit,” our Marie Jelínková (for Pirates and Independents), a representative of Prague 4, who founded an association for her fight with the municipality. Pankrác society.

According to Jelínková, Prague is a finished city in which it is no longer necessary to build. The planned Olbracht station is a thorn in her eye. What bothers her the most is that more than a hundred trees will have to be felled in front of an apartment building from the 1970s at the intersection of Jeremenkova and Na Strži streets.

“People planted the greenery themselves when they moved here, everything is to be cut down now, there will be nothing left. According to plans, by 2033 there should be a huge mining pit, people will have a construction site a meter from the facade of the house. Accept about the possibility of parking, “complains Jelínková.

Prague lost up to four billion

According to the mayor’s deputy for transport, Adam Scheinherr (Prague himself), the construction will proceed similarly to the construction of the A Bořislavka metro station, when the construction site was directly between the houses. “Currently, the project is changing so that the construction site’s equipment will be two-thirds smaller and only 33 trees out of a hundred will be cut down,” says Scheinherr, adding that the benefits of urban transport need to be seen comprehensively.

According to him, the area has been reserved for construction for a long time, and because the metro has not been built for decades, trees have grown in the meantime.

Prague applied for a building permit for the first section of the D metro construction in June 2016, and without Jelínková’s objections, the transport company could have had it in its hands for a long time. “Prague lost two to four billion crowns due to the cessation of construction proceedings for inflation alone,” Scheinherr calculates.

“On the basis of full assistance, we filed objections for all construction proceedings on behalf of the association,” admits Jelínková. The tax advisor of the development companies lives a few streets away in Hudečková Street, their second apartment is in Dolní Břežany and she would get to the center in a few minutes thanks to the D metro. “I would be perfectly perfect to handle my personal needs thanks to the Písnice station, I would save a lot of time,” Jelínková wishes. Nevertheless, it has been blocking the construction for a long time.

According to Jelínková station, Olbrachtov is not needed, because within a kilometer distance there is a station of line C Pankrác and Budějovická, which, according to it, can be reached. However, it will happen that Olbrachtova will become a transfer for trams, which as a result are to run on Jeremenková Street over the Dvorecký Bridge to Smíchov. “Failure to create this interchange would be pointless for passengers who will change from metro D to the Brumlovka – Spořilov and Podolí – Smíchov routes,” says Scheinherr.

Exclusion from the party?

The Pankrác company is willing to back down if the vestibule is redesigned only on the land of the municipality in front of the Auto Strž store, which was also in the original plans before 2013. “In that case, we would withdraw all our objections,” Jelínková promises.

But that’s impossible, according to Scheinherr. “These plots are not suitable due to their location in relation to roads or large sizes, and the orientation of such a lobby would be worse, especially for transferors, the transfer would be at least 200 meters longer, which is four extra minutes when walking,” Scheinherr said.

“When a massive housing development is built in Smíchov and the Dvorecký Bridge, it will bring people to work in the Pankrác area, but it will not bring anything good to the local people,” Jelínková thinks.

It is not without interest that the deputy failed to gain the support of her political club or the opposition. He does not use the mandate in the council for his personal activity.

According to the representative of Jan Hora (Pirates), Jelínková will be expelled from the club in Prague 4 due to a violation of the program, she will propose this point for the previous meeting of the representative club.

“We have repeatedly warned her that she is violating our program,” Hora said. The claim that the construction would delay the Pirates in any way is rejected by Hora. we went with a program in which we emphasize the construction of metro D, as key transport structures for the city district and the entire city, “said the representative.

“The willingness to take risks is extremely low in the political sphere. I honestly don’t care if you kick me out. I did not go into municipal politics for safety reasons, “says the deputy, who sat for the Green Club at the town hall in Prague 4 in the last term of office.

The construction of metro D on the Pankrác – Nové Dvory route was consecrated by the Prague representatives at their last meeting. For a project for 52 billion crowns, who want money by the end of the year from European funds, from the bank and the state. The transport company completed part of the geological survey in Pankrác last summer, the entire survey will be completed in September this year.

In the first phase, a metro will be built between Pankrác and Nové Dvůr and then continue to the Písnice Depot. The section from Pankrác to náměstí Míru must be built in. Where the metro from Náměstí Míru will lead, it has not yet been decided. One of the options was Republic Square, according to the other, the route should go to Žižkov and further to Vysočany.
