The Prague metro extends operation. From July 15, it will run again until midnight
Depending on the line and station, the connections of the last metro trains on all three lines will depart from the central stations between 0:02 and 0:08. The connecting lines of daily trams and public transport buses will also be extended.
The number of passengers is increasing in the evening
The operation of night lines was limited by the Prague City Hall in connection with the government’s anti-pandemic measures. Currently, the last night metro line in the district departs at twelve, the remaining night times are served by trams and buses. However, with the loosening of government measures, the number of passengers who are interested in night transport is increasing.
According to data provided by the Transport Company of the Capital City of Prague, which it provided to the iROZHLAS.cz server, the number of passengers using the metro in the evening is gradually increasing in connection with the release of anti-epidemic measures and restrictions on population movement.
While in the period from 10 to 22 May 2021 the Prague metro used a total of 475,886 passengers after 8 pm, in the same period a month later it was 42% more, ie 673,482 passengers. Following the growing number of passengers, the Prague City Hall has thus decided to restore the night lines to their original condition.
