Prague is organizing a postponed farewell to buses. Karosy will drive through the city on Saturday
Saturday’s event will start at the Museum of Public Transport in Střešovice. It will include a parade of buses through Prague and an accompanying program at the Exhibition Grounds in Bubeneč. Those interested in a farewell parade can keep a ticket for 50 crowns on the website DPP fanshop.
“Although we eliminated the last high-floor buses of the Karosa B 951 type from the regular operation of DPP at the beginning of last December, due to anti-epidemic measures, we could not organize a dignified farewell event for the public and public transport fans at that time. We are fulfilling our promise from last year, “said Jan Barchánek from DPP.
The oldest bus will be the Škoda 706 RO
The museum vehicles will be exhibited in the courtyard of the Public Transport Museum from 9:00 to 13:30. The procession of eight buses will leave at 2:20 pm to Hradčanské náměstí, where people will be able to take pictures of the cars. They will then set off on a round trip through the city center and arrive at the Exhibition Center around 3:30 p.m. Not only this type of bus will be involved, but also others that were manufactured in Vysoké Mýto. The oldest will be the Škoda 706 RO from the turn of the 1940s and 1950s.
From the Exhibition Grounds, those who did not get to the main procession will be able to embark on a short round trip. A Citybus trainer will be ready. DPP will organize a discussion on buses, model races on a walkie-talkie, a bouncy castle, refreshments and a DPP information stand will be built. “There will also be a recruitment stand for all those who are considering the profession of public transport bus driver,” added Aneta Řehková, a spokeswoman for the transport company. The program will culminate at 9:45 pm with the screening of short films about buses.
