Prague 22 has a new mayor: Tomáš Kaněra
“The policy of our district needs to be restored to credibility. We lost several months due to mutual disagreements between the representatives, due to which significant investment projects are worth it. At the same time, the city district absolutely needs to complete these projects. If we do not quickly build a new kindergarten and primary school, our citizens will soon have to look for a place elsewhere for their children, “said Kaněra.
There was also a change in the positions of councilors. The council was reduced from seven to five members. At the May meeting, two current deputy mayors and two councilors resigned on June 25. In addition to the new mayor, Štěpán Zmátlo (KDU-ČSL for Prague 22. Naše město.) And Radovan Koutský (Svobodní for STAN + Svobodní) remained on the council. The Council has more than half the number of members and has a quorum. The remaining two members will be licensed for one of the next council meetings.
She had been looking for a new mayor for about three months. In March, Zelenka was recalled at the suggestion of opposition representative Martin Langmajer (ODS), who at the time stated that the town hall under Zelenka’s leadership had failed, for example, in investing in education. A narrow majority of 13 representatives voted in favor. In May, Zelenka ran for the post again at the meeting, but was not elected by secret ballot. Finally, the mentioned councilors and deputy mayors announced their resignation.
