“This is a free space where people can get together and do something they enjoy. And the city district did not appreciate that. The potential of a place that is already here, “says Matouš Turek, one of the signatories petition. In addition, the town hall wants to build an area with artificial grass for practice and create a new yellow staircase and a path of the same color.
Listen to a report on plans with Prague’s Folimanka Park
“Folimanka is not a leisure area. It’s to park. The whole world says increase the amount of greenery in cities, and here in the park we will concrete? The design features gadgets like artificial grass to make it look natural. We will put artificial grass in the park, I call it surrealism, for which even René Magritte would not be ashamed, “criticizes the plan of councilors Kamila Šmídová.
Šmídová adds that the City District of Prague 2 hates to plan to consult with the public. For example, the opposition representative Jaroslav Němec from the Pirate Parties does not mind that the town hall does not consider the development of the park conceptually and tries to put a lot of attractions in one place. In addition, the project was not discussed by the council.
No discussion with citizens
“The matter was decided by the council. This means that she has full competence. The council did not decide on this. It only got to know that the project was designed and a tender for the supplier is already underway, “Němec responded.
According to critics, the citizens only got to the project in the final stage, because the building permit had already been approved.
ODS Deputy Mayor Václav Vondrášek, who is in charge of the project, did not want to answer the questions and referred to the press spokeswoman Andrea Zoulová. She answered eight specific questions: “To date, the Office of the City District of Prague 2 has no written submission, which would have the requisites arising from Act No. 85 of 1990 Coll. we do not register on the right of petition. Therefore, I cannot comment on the question at this time. “
Deputy Mayor Vondrášek commented on the project at debateorganized by the opposition Greens at the end of April. According to people’s policy, they are not so interested in free crying for sports, and the town hall was also based on the gathered demands of people from the past. According to him, the area should serve mainly families with children. The Petitions Committee for Folimanka now wants to collect 350 paper signatures. In such a case, the matter would have to be dealt with by the council.
