Ticket sales in trolleybuses only from June 13th
Traffic
The CoV restrictions on public transport no longer apply since Wednesday. Nevertheless, passengers in Salzburg Obbussen cannot buy tickets from the drivers for the time being. That will only be possible again in a week and a half, according to Salzburg AG.
In the regional and postal buses, on the other hand, payment to the driver was technically upgraded during the lockdowns. The red and white barrier tapes are still stretched in the Salzburg trolleybuses. They prevent passengers from boarding at the front or going to the front of the driver to buy a ticket.
New regulation two weeks after relaxation
This situation should not change until Monday in a week’s time – almost two weeks after the end of the mask requirement in buses, confirmed Harald Haidenberger, press spokesman for Salzburg AG: “We are in the process of equipping the driver’s seats with protective screens. When the buses are equipped, we will start ticket sales again. It starts on June 13th.”
The tickets must still be paid for in cash on the trolleybus. In the past, changing money has repeatedly caused delays and delays in bus services.
Other operators significantly faster
The operators of the regional and postal buses in Salzburg are already one step ahead. On the one hand, it has been possible to pay the driver again for some time because the plexiglass panes have already been installed. In addition, the lockdown period was used to install contactless payment terminals for ATM cards in all regional buses. This should make ticket sales faster.
Citizen list calls for expansion
The Green Citizens’ List calls for ticket machines in all trolleybuses in a broadcast on Friday. Municipal Councilor Lukas Bernitz: “In many other cities, ticket machines and simple card payment on the bus have long been common. Paying the driver cash mainly causes annoyance and delays.”
