The center of Prague is waiting for the return of tourists. But he longs for those who do not drive in the streets
Prague 1 is preparing for a restart of tourism. However, according to the mayor of the city district, Petr Hejma, the hotels are still missing from the hotels, and clients of a higher category are not returning there.
“These are cultured people who go to our theater, to an exhibition, buy Czech goods, spend money in a restaurant and leave quietly. They do not shuffle in the streets and do not return to the sidewalks, “the mayor remarked.
Alcohol from Rybná
People living in the center of the metropolis share fears of the return of so-called alcohol tourists, which have been the subject of countless complaints. A decree banning the sale of alcohol in the evenings after 10 pm, which Prague 1 called for, is supposed to help solve problems with drunk and noisy visitors.
“We are trying to prove that Rybná Street is after the tenth evening of alcohol storage, we want to convince the capital and create a unified decree,” Hejma said. In order for the ban not to be discriminatory, it would have to apply throughout Prague. Paradoxically, however, local people do not support this goal.
And probably not even the municipality. “In the evening, I see a bigger problem than drunk guests inside the restaurant. However, I would not want to enforce a blanket ban, except for restrictions on the sale of hard alcohol only in selected localities, “we will introduce Councilor for Culture and Tourism Hana Třeštíková (Prague to herself).
Unconventional experiences
Thanks to the pandemic, according to Hejma, the problem with sprays disappeared from the center, the town hall also stepped on the Prague Riverside Party, which attracts foreign tourists to non-traditional experiences associated with drinking, drawing on walls and dishonoring some monuments and statues.
During their walks through Prague, they pulled a cart with colored sprays and alcohol, it starts in Karlova street, and the participants could then play on Lennon’s wall and other buildings.
Foreign travelers receive this service among other in-comming products. For example, on the Trip advisor portal, this entertainment is still offered for a price starting at seven hundred crowns.
Self-employed people stick
Despite the fact that the streets are still empty than before the pandemic, the number of entrepreneurs based in Prague 1 has not decreased. “It’s not like people compose their trades in our country, on the contrary,” confirmed Petr Bidlo, a spokesman for the city district, according to which there are approximately twelve and a half thousand establishments in one unit.
According to Hejma, the so-called market selection, which usually accompanies a crisis, takes place between restaurants. Surviving companies that offer services to domestic needs at affordable prices. “Those that were purely for tourists are collapsing,” Hejma reminded him.
