We are looking for the builder of the Dvorecký Bridge, which will connect Smíchov and Podolí
If everything went smoothly, the metropolis would get the necessary permits by the beginning of next year and compete with contractors. The estimated duration of the construction work is 30 months.
“Prague politicians have been working on the idea of connecting the Zlíchov and Podolsk embankments with a new bridge since 2003. I am proud that under the influence of the current coalition, this vision is beginning to take concrete shape. This is a strategic transport construction, which requires the lightening of Prague’s public transport, and will also benefit cyclists and pedestrians. Construction should start next year, “says the mayor of the capital city of Prague, Zdeněk Hřib.
The purpose of the bridge only for public transport, cyclists and pedestrians is based on changes in the Spatial Plan from 2014. However, if necessary, vehicles of the Integrated Rescue System will not be able to drive here. Individual car traffic is also expected to be relieved by diverting public transport buses from the Barrandov Bridge.
The Dvorecký Bridge spans the Vltava in the section between the Zlíchov and Podolské embankments and thus connects the city districts of Prague 4 and Prague 5. The aim of the construction is to improve the connection between the city on both banks of the Vltava in the southern part of Prague.
Only the price does not decide the builder
“The public contract will be set so that it depends not only on the price, but also on the length of the warranty period, long construction and professional qualifications, so that the new bridge has a truly top quality. The application will also include lists of completed construction work, lists of technicians, certificates of education and professional qualifications with a description of the technical equipment with which the company will work. I am sure that the construction of the Dvorecký Bridge will be in good hands, “describes Deputy Adam Scheinherr.
In addition, the construction of this bridge will complement the hitherto missing connection for public transport, pedestrian and bicycle connections between the banks of the Vltava. The construction should also contribute to the improvement of interconnections between tram and bus lines in transport hubs (Lihovar and Dvorce) and increase the reliability and speed of public transport. The Dvorecký Bridge construction project is included among the highest priorities of the capital city of Prague both in the Sustainable Mobility Plan and in the Tram Line Development Strategy.
Location of the Dvorecký Bridge.
The eastern exit of the bridge will be at Žluté lázně north of Jeremenkova street. West then near the tram stop Lihovar. Part of the project is the design of a new tram and bus stop Dvorecký most. The current city management has been counting on the construction of the Dvorecký Bridge for a long time and coordinates all investments and reconstructions with its implementation.
Dopravní podnik hl. The City of Prague, among other things, founded within the framework of tram closures in 2020 at the Barrandov branch leading to the Dvorecký Bridge. The Lihovar stop will then get a new look during the reconstruction of Nádražní Street. All existing modifications therefore provide for a connection to novelty. The construction is also coordinated with the reconstruction of the Barrandov Bridge, which is divided into stages so that the planned bus lines can be smoothly transferred to the newly created majority.
The authors of the winning design, which arose from architectural and construction competitions held between 2017 and 2018, are architects from the Atelier 6 and Tubes studios. “Throughout the project, the function will go hand in hand with quality form. The design of the bridge is elegant and refers to cubism and brutalism, which have a long tradition in Prague. Podmostí, which they often forget in similar projects, offered a multifunctional space for leisure and cultural activities, including a café. Krištof Kintera – one of the most prominent contemporary Czech artists – will also take part in his lighting installation, ”concludes Mayor Zdeněk Hřib.
