DPP expects construction to begin at the end of this year or early next year. It will last about four and a half years in several stages. As part of the construction, DPP will replace all 131 existing prestressed beams with new ones, including the replacement of some load-bearing bearings, which cannot be refurbished. It will also replace the monolithic slab, which is located below the intersection of Křižíkova and Ke Štvanici streets.

In summary, DPP will reconstruct the waterproofing system of the ceiling to a depth of two meters, including the necessary relocation of utilities and will modernize both the public areas of the underpass and vestibule, as well as the technical areas and facilities of the station.
Stairs will replace escalators
Florenc gets new energy-saving LED lighting and new ceilings. DPP also repairs wall and paving, modernizes switchboards, power supply information system, lighting control system and communication equipment.
The fixed staircase at the exit to the bus terminal also disappears. For more comfortable passenger transfers towards the new check-in hall of the Florenc Central Bus Station, they will build two new escalators there.
Attention! Attention. Florence Bus Station is celebrating its 70th anniversary
There are four types of beams on the ceiling plate of the station, the longest ones are over twenty-three meters and weigh about twenty-eight tons.
The repair should not fundamentally limit the operation of the metro, only local restrictions are taken into account.
There will not be many restrictions on metro traffic
Only when handling beams and parts of the monolithic ceiling structure, ie when removing old or storing new ones, the operation of the metro on line C will be interrupted for some necessary weekends at Florenc station and DPP will introduce alternative tram transport during these closures.
According to Deputy Mayor for Transport Adam Scheinherr, the metro bears a large internal debt in the past, especially for parts that remain hidden from the average passenger.
Due to the reconstruction, a steel sculpture with a clock disappeared from Florence
“We have to replace the ceiling plate of the Florenc station. Several diagnostic surveys, a static assessment and the result of a survey of steel bearing bearings of the ceiling structure, carried out by the Klokner Institute of the Czech Technical University in Prague, show extensive corrosion. If DPP did not carry out the reconstruction in the coming years, the Florenc metro station could be in a state of disrepair and would have to be closed unplanned, ”added Scheinherr.
A fundamental novelty will also be the introduction of alternative tram transport for the necessary exclusions. These will be trams between Hlavní nádraží, Vltavská and Nádraží Holešovice.

“We will use the blind tracks that remained in Opletalova Street so that we can drive as close as possible to the Central Station. Therefore, during the work we are currently carrying out on the line in Seifertova Street, we will build their connection to the line from Senovážné náměstí to Bolzanova Street, ”said Petr Witowski, Chairman of the DPP Board of Directors.
