The traffic connection between Mělnicko and Prague will temporarily deteriorate. The D8 motorway is awaiting repair
ŘSD selected a contractor, which is an association of companies Eurovia and Strabag. Among the five bidders, the success was mainly due to the time of putting the repaired section into operation: 120 days. It was None of all the bids – which, according to calculations by officials, it is expected that the shortest construction time will be considered 71 days longer.
The price of the winning association, 358.49 million crowns without VAT, although it was not the cheapest among the bids, third, but it is still a quarter lower than the original: the estimated value of the public contract according to the tender documentation was Cenotena at 480 million without VAT.
“The purpose of the construction work is to restore the condition of the D8 motorway for its further safe use, as the section between Zdiby and Úžice was put into operation as early as 1993; the remaining part of the repaired section behind the Úžice level crossing in 1996, “Buček reminded.
It should be noted that together this is a section with a high intensity of traffic: automatic counters record an average of 48,000 vehicles a day, of which almost a third are trucks. More precisely: heavy trucks.
When the work associated with traffic restrictions starts exactly, it is now the subject of negotiations with the contractor and the closing committee. ŘSD expects to start in the first half of July. What is certain is that the work requires a narrowing of the motorway – depending on the current stages of the work: it will run either in 1/1 + 2 lane mode or in 2 + 1/1 mode.
“When repairing the surface of the branches of the Úžice level crossing, drivers must also take into account the closure of these branches and traffic management along the marked detour route,” added Buček. He points out that speed limits are envisaged here – and compliance will be monitored by section measurements.
Upcoming repair of the D8 motorway near Prague
– Repair is required for 16 buildings and over several stages. In the right lane, in the direction of Ústí nad Labem, we will work in kilometers 3–5.1 and further in kilometers 5.12–12.12; in total, therefore, on a section longer than nine need. In the opposite direction to Prague, it will be a section six times long.
– Not only the structural layers of the road will be repaired to various extents (for example, in kilometers 3–5.1 only the upper, abrasive layer will change) – including the branches of the level crossing exit 9 Úžice. Road equipment will also be renewed and modernized: barriers, directional posts, vertical and horizontal traffic signs. Approaches to SOS voices will be modified, paving along the noise barrier will be modified. In the section between kilometers 5.1 and 9.2, a new fence will be built on both sides of the motorway, which has been lacking so far. In the left lane, the construction of two new bays for emergency stops is being prepared.
– Within the individual planned stages, it also comes to bridges. And yet, according to the evaluation, they are in a very good or good condition, they are preparing repairs and remediation work on them to varying degrees, in order to prevent their further rapid devaluation and thus prolong their service life. Work will be done, for example, on the accessories of bridges, bridge closures, cornices.
