The northern part of the highway will not go underground for a long time, V Holešovičkách Street is to become a city class
According to the city, the deepening of the main road will be possible only after the completion of the City Ring Road.
One of the busiest road sections in Prague remains on the surface. Promised recess or other tunnel solution V Holešovičkách Street, which we drive through around a hundred thousand cars a day, has been postponed for decades. In the meantime, however, Prague is preparing partial street modifications at the end of next year, which should at least partially improve the environment.
On your own Facebook profile This was stated by Deputy Mayor Adam Scheinherr (Prague himself). According to him, the city has examined several options and before the completion of the City Ring Road, the excavation is not demonstrable. “The goal is to deepen the streets or find another tunnel solution. However, with the effort of designers and city companies, this will really happen only as one of the last stages of the completion of the City Ring Road. We have examined all possible scenarios and such is the reality of permitting processes and the whole preparation of such a huge construction,“Scheinherr said.”
The deepening of the part of the main road, which is another drop-off point on the D8 and D10, has been talked about in Prague for over ten years. In 2017, the court even ruled in favor of the Holešovičky association for people and ordered Prague to reduce noise from the main road.
Trees, traction lines, speed measurement
According to Scheinherr, the city is preparing a package “With quick and effective measures to make the streets completely transformed.” “It will not be a motorway exit, but the entire section from the intersection with Zenklova to the Barricade Bridge will become a city street, “ I need Scheinherr.
Silent asphalt should be laid in the whole route, the middle strip will grow green. Unnecessary railings, barriers and highway signs will disappear. Up to 130 trees and 90 shrubs are planted along the street, wider sidewalks are to be created. During the reconstruction planned for the end of next year or the beginning of 2023, a traction line for partial trolleybuses is also being created. “These measures are preceded by almost two dozen partial measures, such as the commissioning of the radar towards the center, the introduction of a speed of 50 km / h at the entrance to Holešovičky, inspections of cars with a removed particulate filter and buses with a higher EURO standard, “ added Scheinherr.
The change in the plans of the management of Prague is quite surprising. Last year, at the end of the year, the Prague 8 City Council even approved a resolution requiring a tunnel variant. In 2018, the management of the Prague City Hall included the V Holešovičkách tunnel in the program statement.
