The railway administration will build a new station building in Radotín, the existing one wants a city district
In the existing building, the Radotín town hall wants to have facilities for the city police or the labor office.
Part of the major modernization of the railway station in Radotín will be the construction of a new station building. Its visualization was presented on his twitter account by the General Director of the Railway Administration (SŽ) Jiří Svoboda. However, the existing historic building is to remain, but will find another use.
“The original intention was to reconstruct the existing station building, which, however, is too large for the needs of the Railway Administration and would not be fully used., ”Dušan Gavenda, a spokesman for the Railway Administration, explained.
However, the city district of Prague 16 commented on the building. This is one of the reasons why the Railway Administration finally decided to build a new, smaller and modern station building. It will be a separate construction, which is not part of the existing contracts for the modernization of the line from Smíchov to Radotín.
The new building will be south of the existing one. It will measure 12 x 38 m. The new building will have facilities for passengers, cash registers, public toilets and additional commercial space.
According to Mayor Radotín Karel Hanzlík, the city district wants to use the existing building from 1862 for the definitive location of the local services of the City Police. “At present, it is located in K Starému hřiště Street in unsuitable UNIMO building cells. We would also like to place here a detached workplace of the Labor Office of the Czech Republic for the administrative district of Prague 16, “ said Hanzlík. On the ground floor, the city district also wants to preserve part of the commercial space. “We are negotiating a repurchase with the capital city of Prague, which is also negotiating with SŽ in other property transactions. From this it seems possible for the station to obtain the methods of exchange contract,“Hanzlík added.”
