At a demonstration, Benjamin Roll, president of the Million Moments Association, said Zeman was gambling on the country’s security with new steps. “Everything that Miloš Zeman has done in relation to Russia during his term, and especially how he continues to disinform and question the Czech security services after the Vrbetice revelation, has a clear name – high treason,” Roll said. He then called on the senators to begin the process of removing Zeman from the presidency by proposing a constitutional lawsuit against the president.
Former Minister of Human Rights and National Minorities Michael Kocáb read an open letter to his members, senators, to file a constitutional lawsuit against Zeman. According to him, the president delivered a speech to Vrbětice late, questioned the results of the investigation and behaved as a defender of the Russian Federation, not the head of the Czech state. Kocáb then called on the protesters to sign as well.
Eugenie Číhalová, a representative of Russians living in the Czech Republic on the Government Council for National Minorities, also spoke at the demonstration. “We call on everyone, including those sitting at the Castle, to think about their actions. You represent the Czech Republic, not the Russian Federation, which is the successor to the Soviet Union,” she said. The protesters rewarded her words with applause.
“In our opinion, President Zeman has long been acting against the interests of the Czech Republic and against the interests of the security and sovereignty of the Czech Republic. He has now clearly confirmed this again with his late and relativizing Sunday speech. “Michael Kocáb

AGAINST Brno about 800 people gathered at a distance in Dominican Square in front of the New Town Hall. Speakers, including former Sen. Zdeněk Papoušek, warned against “turning the helm” east and called for Czech Television to defend itself against political pressure.
The situation around Czech Television and its board was criticized by the theater director Břetislav Rychlík. “Having the television broken up before the election is the worst thing that could happen. In addition, during a pandemic, he is performing an important public service,” Rychlík emphasized.
The protesters came up with the banners “Put Zeman next to Lenin” or “Open schools, close Babiš”. Some banners also called Zeman a traitor.
A million moments before the event, he urged participants to adhere to anti-coronavirus hygiene measures and recommendations. Two-meter intervals were marked on Wenceslas Square, and according to the organizers, the participants were also to have negative tests for the covid-19 disease.
Less than three hundred people gathered in the central Pilsen square of the Republic. The Castle Behind the Edge event was organized by the local movement ProHnutí with the Association of Million Moments for Democracy. The organizers said that after a one-year delay caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the Pilsen demonstrations will continue from May.
Almost 200 people with flags and banners gathered on the Upper Square in Opava. In addition to speeches, they also listened to musical performances. The protest was calm, with speakers criticizing Zeman’s views and urging people to go to the polls to decide to change the government. The protest ended before 19:00 with the joint singing of the anthem.
About a hundred people gathered in Zlín. At the beginning of the event, people kept a minute of silence for the victims of the explosion in the ammunition areas in Vrbětice in the Zlín region.
Criticism because of Vrbětice
President Zeman was criticized by parliamentary opposition politicians and other personalities for Sunday’s speech, in which he stated that he was working with two investigative versions of the explosion of the ammunition depot in Vrbětice in the Zlín region in 2014.
However, Deputy Prime Minister Jan Hamáček (CSSD) and Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (YES) reiterated this week that there is one investigative version, and this is connected with the participation of members of Russian military intelligence GRU in the explosion.
According to a million moments, the disintegration of the Czech Republic is also rented by Babiš’s conflict of interests. The association recalled the final audit report of the European Commission, according to which it co-decides on the direction of EU subsidies and at the same time controls the Agrofert holding.
The Millions of Moments Association was established after the parliamentary elections in 2017. It organizes protests and demonstrations in which there are cases related mainly to Babiš. The year before last, at Prague’s Letná, the largest demonstration of a million moments, according to the organizers, was up to 250,000 people.
